About DaDaFest
Now in its sixth year, DaDaFest is the largest celebration of Disability and Deaf art in the North West bringing together internationally acclaimed top class professional artists, local home grown talent, and up and coming young disabled people. DaDaFest has become so successful and well known it won the Mersey Tourism Award for Best Small Event 2005. Events included Performance, Comedy, Dance, Music, Sculpture, Film, Photography, and Poetry. It has grown consistently over the years.
The main concept of the festival is:
- To develop a festival that celebrates Disability & Deaf Arts with Disabled and Deaf arts practitioners and organisations
- To celebrate, promote and support Disability and Deaf Arts as distinct cultural diversities
- To encourage mainstream arts venues and organisations to celebrate our cultures by bringing understanding and experiences to the issues that prevent Disabled and Deaf people accessing arts activities.
Quotes:
"We're thrilled to be supporting DaDaFest again this year, it is a consistently excellent festival, run both by and for disabled people... It shows the high calibre of performers that they go on to work in other areas and to great acclaim."
Liverpool City Council leader, Cllr Warren Bradley
"DaDaFest has gone from strength to strength and I am delighted to be taking part again in this years festival"
Mat Fraser, TV Presenter and Patron
"DaDaFest is a unique mixture of both professional and community-based disability art – showcasing the best whilst giving everyone an opportunity to have a go. Without it I doubt if I’d have become a comedian, as the first time I ever performed was at the first festival in 2001."
Laurence Clark, Comedian
"DaDaFest was the first time I have had the confidence to perform in public. As a female visually impaired DJ I had opportunity to participate in a club night on an equal footing with other dj’s and play to a mainstream audience with pride"
Debbie Sewandee, DJ and Radio Presenter
This year, don’t miss DaDa’s latest introduction, its diverse Family Fun Day to be held in the Palm House, Sefton Park. New acts for this year’s program include; David Roche from the US and deliciously different Aisle 16, who are currently touring their latest performance piece, ‘Poetry Boyband’.
